UMBC Lacrosse

UMBC lacrosse has been a big surprize this year. After losing beating Maryland last year in the NCAA tournament and losing three of the top scorers the team was looking for new leadership to take over this year. Terry Kimener the senior captian for the Retrievers is the leader on the offense. By playing middie he can posses the ball and set up plays for the team. On the defense side of the ball Jeremey Blevins is the goalie. As a junior and a very good performance last year his senior year will be a important year for UMBC and their success next year.

At 9-3 and number 5 in the country the Retrivers have a lot riding on their shoulders. By not playing the toughest schedule in the country they know what they have to do in the tournament to sucseed in the tournament. they also have there conference tournament May 1st and by winning that they can possibly go 12-3 and most likely stay in the top 5 in the nation. If they were to do that look for them to advance in the quarterfinals and then face a strong team the next round, with a hard fought game with a lot meaning.

Coach Zimmerman the head coach of UMBC knows what it is like to make it to the finals and win a national championship. Earlier in his coaching career he coached at Hopkins where he won two national championships while participating in three of them. Great coaching staff with a lot of experience can go a long way. Wait for the next couple years for the team to devolpe and get good recruits to compete in the Tournament and hopefully in a couple years making it all the way to win the D-1 National Championship.
